A WHISPER
EPHESIANS 1
5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
EZEKIEL 16
Is God the Same????
1/15/2026
This morning, I was sitting in my living room reading Ezekiel chapter 16. I was crying, weeping, because I understood something that I have been searching the answer for, for years!
How can the God of the Old Testament be the same God of the New Testament?
I think many people, especially religious people wonder the same thing. And being honest, it has been a big issue in my relationship with God. Because, if I trust God and his word completely, there can be no discrepancies in His word, and His character.
And SPOILER, there isn't!
How did I come to realize this you ask? Well, it started about a year ago...
My husband and I felt called to sell our house quit our jobs and go into the mission field halfway around the world. We hooked up with an American couple who had been missionaries in Kenya for 20+ yrs! During this time, I had been struggling with this deep and familiar issue. It's not as though I hadn't always wondered, but for some reason it just bothered me not knowing. And I went to God so many times asking Him to reveal to me the truth.
Well recently, I had been in a season of pain and bitterness that was like quicksand. The more I struggled to get out of the pain and hurt I was feeling, the deeper I sunk and the harder it was to breathe. Till eventually, I had given up. I had no energy to fight anymore... I was just stuck, and it was honestly humiliating.
I cried out to God, but this time, I wasn't trying to prove myself to Him or pull myself out of the mess I was in. Instead,
I GAVE IN.
And He picked me up and made me feel safe. I didn't hear or feel any judgement from God, only love and acceptance. And I realized that God doesn't judge the people like He did in the Old Testament because When He looks at us, He sees His son, Jesus. And that I was never going to be able to pull myself out of the mud, no one can! Because the mess that people are in isn't financial, physical, mental, and emotional. It's Spiritual. And God is the one who has all dominion and power. We alone are no match for the demonic spiritual attacks of Satan. But for God, it's a piece of cake!
So, while I was reading Ezekiel chpt. 16 what I believed was confirmed.
In verses 1-14 God tells Ezekiel about how He saved Jerusalem. He speaks of How he found her naked and deserted as a baby in its own blood, left to die. How He picked her up and loved her, and then how He cleaned her, and clothed her with the most valuable and beautiful garments and gave her precious silver and gold and how he crowned her. And much more.
But then in verses 15-63 He describes what Jerusalem did in return. Taking all of the things, that God did for her and sacrificing those things at the altar of false idols.
In comparison to today's standard, imagine you are the richest person in the world, and you find a baby in and alley and you raise that baby and give it everything it desires and more. and then it takes what you gave and tells the world that it earned it all on its own and then gives those riches to your fiercest competitors. then it sleeps with them just to spite you.
This doesn't even compare to how bad it really was. God says that Sodom and Gomorrah weren't even this bad.
But reading this I realized, He did love us in the Old Testament, just like He loves us now. He describes how He loves us in this Chapter! But back then, the Lord saw the actions and abominations of the people. But now, he sees us like this...
Ephesians 1
"5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. We have something that the people of Isreal didn't have yet though they were promised to them.
Redemption, and the forgiveness of sin through the blood of Jesus. See, God never changed, we did.
Back then they only had the blood of goats and bulls to forgive them their sin. But the blood of Jesus covers us so that when we sin, it is washed away as if it never happened.
And life is so much better this way!
Blessings to you all,
